The Nigeria Police Force has issued a stern caution against the prevalent practice of jungle justice in the country, emphasizing its adverse effects on the proper dispensation of justice. The Force, through its Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, underscored the global condemnation of vigilantism and the need to uphold the rule of law. In a recent incident reported on March 25, 2024, the Itire Divisional Police Headquarters in Lagos received a distress call regarding the vandalism of a vehicle on Shonde Street, Itire. Following the arrest of one of the vandals by concerned citizens, the suspect was handed over to Agunbiade Adekunle, the security guard of the street. Shocked by the vandalism, Adekunle, in a moment of misguided justice, resorted to extreme measures to punish the suspect. Tragically, his actions resulted in the fatal assault and subsequent burning of the vandal. The gravity of the situation was not lost on the authorities, prompting the immediate arrest of Ad
