Deposed Emir Bayero Should evacuate Palace - Court



A big decision has been made by a Kano State High Court. The court has ordered the state Police Commissioner to immediately remove Aminu Bayero from the Nasarawa palace. This is where he is currently staying. The court has also stopped Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero and four other dethroned emirs from calling themselves emirs. This is until the court makes a final decision on the matter.

Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu made this order on Monday. She was responding to an application filed by Barrister Ibrahim Isa Wangida. He is the lawyer for the applicants. The judge has fixed June 11, 2024, for the next hearing on the matter. She has also ordered the Commissioner of Police in Kano State to ensure that her order is carried out immediately. This is to maintain peace and order in the state.

This development is the latest in the ongoing dispute over the emirate in Kano State. Emir Bayero was recently removed from office, and a new emir was appointed. The court's order is aimed at maintaining peace and order in the state until the dispute is resolved.

The applicants had approached the court seeking an order to restrain Aminu Bayero and the other dethroned emirs from parading themselves as emirs. They also sought an order to remove Aminu Bayero from the Nasarawa palace. The court has granted their application and ordered the police to enforce its decision.
