n a tragic incident in Abia State, a police corporal identified as Obagi Njok has been apprehended for the fatal shooting of Emmanuel Okocha, a businessman from Abiriba community in the Ohafia Local Government Area.
According to reports, the shooting occurred along MCC Abayi-Aba, allegedly after Okocha refused to offer a bribe to officers from the Rapid Response Squad of the Nigeria Police Force, despite having complete vehicle documents.
The Abia State Police Command swiftly responded to the incident, confirming Njok's arrest and initiating necessary disciplinary procedures. The Command assured that appropriate administrative and legal actions would be taken against the corporal, with involvement of the bereaved family and stakeholders in the proceedings.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, expressed condolences to the deceased's family, friends, and well-wishers, while condemning the incident as unfortunate and regrettable. Chinaka reiterated the Command's commitment to professionalism and adherence to the rule of law, vowing to uphold discipline among its officers.
