The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has commenced the removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge. This is the second time the state government has taken such action, following a similar exercise in February.

According to the ministry's commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, a 23-hour notice was served to illegal occupants squatting under the bridge to vacate the premises. The government has announced plans to convert the under-bridge to a creative space.

The removal of the shanties and illegal business activities is part of the state government's efforts to clean up the environment and restore order in the area. The exercise is expected to continue until the area is completely cleared of all illegal structures and activities.

The state government had earlier in February destroyed and cleared illegal shanties occupied by squatters under the Ijora bridge after a five-day quit notice. The government's plan to convert the under-bridge to a creative space is aimed at promoting tourism and economic development in the area.

The commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the commencement of the removal exercise on (link unavailable), saying, "Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources #LasgMOE commence removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge."

The removal exercise is being carried out by a team of officials from the ministry, accompanied by security personnel. The team is ensuring that all illegal structures and activities are completely removed from the area.

The state government's efforts to clean up the environment and restore order in the area have been commended by residents and stakeholders. They have expressed hope that the conversion of the under-bridge to a creative space will promote tourism and economic development in the area.

The Lagos State Government has been working to address the issue of illegal shanties and business activities under bridges in the state. The government has been serving notices to illegal occupants and carrying out removal exercises to ensure that the areas are cleared of all illegal structures and activities.

The government's efforts are aimed at promoting a clean and safe environment, as well as promoting economic development in the state.
