A devastating cult clash has resulted in the tragic loss of three lives in the Ijoko area of Ogun State. One person, identified as Seun, an alleged member of the Eiye confraternity, was killed and beheaded in a reprisal attack.
Two other members of the Eiye cult group were also shot and killed by members of the rival Aye cult group.
According to reports, the clash began last Friday when a suspected Aye leader, Adisa, was killed and his hand chopped off by a rival group. In retaliation, members of the Aye cult group launched a brutal attack on Saturday, killing two Eiye members and beheading Seun, a fuel attendant at a filling station in Alaroro, Ijoko.
Seun was reportedly killed in a targeted attack, with the assailants shooting him first and causing everyone nearby to flee. They then finished him off and beheaded him, leaving only his head at the scene and taking his body with them.
The attack has left the community in fear, with residents deserting the streets. The police have been urged to increase their presence in the area to prevent further violence.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, stated that she was not aware of the incident, but promised to investigate and take action if confirmed.
"I don't have the information, sir. If such happened, the DPO Ijoko Ota would have informed us," Odutola said.
