The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to curb illegal estate developments along the Epe corridor, as announced by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, in a statement released on Saturday.

In response to a directive from the state executive council, Olumide led a special joint exercise to address the issue in the specified areas on Thursday and Friday.

The exercise targeted various locations including Alaro City, Okorisan, Igbodu, Molajoye, Shaala, Ketu, and Epe. Notices were served to estate developments such as Patriot Bay Estate, Smart City Estate, the Legend, Hilton Royal Garden, Greenland Estate, Legacy City, Isinmi Lagos, Dominion City, Topview Estate, and Ibi Alafia, among others.

Olumide emphasized the importance of developers obtaining layout approval, planning permit, and fencing permit before commencing any estate development. These requirements are essential for ensuring an organized, livable, and sustainable built environment.

Layout approval facilitates proper arrangement of the estate to accommodate necessary services and infrastructure, while the planning permit addresses individual plot planning within the estate.

The commissioner urged property buyers to exercise caution and refrain from investing in estates without proper approval to avoid potential legal consequences and inconveniences from government authorities.

The government's proactive measures underscore its commitment to fostering orderly urban development and safeguarding the interests of both developers and residents in Lagos State.
