Junior Pope: Makeup Artist, Abigail Frederick Laid to Rest in Akwa Ibom After Tragic Accident"



In a somber ceremony befitting her contribution to the Nigerian film industry, the late Nollywood makeup artist Abigail Fredrick, aged 24, found her final resting place in her hometown of Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday.

Fredrick was tragically among the casualties of a fatal boat accident on the River Niger last Wednesday, alongside five other film practitioners, including the prominent actor Junior Pope.


Reports reveal that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, intervened to ensure Fredrick's return to her native soil for a proper burial, following her initial burial along the riverbank.

In accordance with the governor's directive, her body was exhumed on Sunday, April 14, marking the beginning of the formal farewell process.


A poignant candle-light procession was organized to honor Fredrick's memory, serving as a testament to her impact on the lives of those she touched during her time in the industry.

Sharing poignant images from the burial, Facebook user Ubong David conveyed the solemnity of the occasion, stating, "Today, the late Abigail Frederick, the Nollywood makeup artist tragically lost in the ill-fated boat mishap, has been laid to rest at the family compound in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area.

"The funeral service, conducted by the Church of Christ, Ikot Udoma, drew dignitaries from various spheres, including the Eket Transition Committee Chairman, Akaniyene Tommey; Commissioner for Tourism, Charles Udoh; SA on Entertainment, Moses Eskor; Godfada Uko, members of the Eket Transition Committee, Nollywood luminary Eve Esin, the Nollywood community, friends, and sympathizers."



As the curtains close on Fredrick's journey, the Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of a talented artist and bids farewell to a beloved member of its community.
