A disturbing incident occurred in Ilorin, Kwara State, when an environmental sanitation officer was attacked and injured by a defaulter while enforcing the state government's sanitation laws.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, was carrying out his duties, ensuring residents complied with the state government's directive to clean their environments every last Saturday of the month.
When the officer approached a resident who had failed to clean his environment, the defaulter became aggressive and violently struck the officer on the head with a hammer. The officer sustained injury and received treatment.
