Damaturu, Yobe State - The Commissioner of Police, Yobe Police Command, CP Garba Ahmed, has urged youths to engage in dialogue with authorities following three days of violent protests that resulted in widespread looting, property destruction, and unrest.

In a statement signed by DSP Dungus Abdul Karim, Police Public Relations Officer, the command confirmed that significant damage was recorded to public infrastructure and private businesses, leading to injuries, losses, and casualties.

However, timely security measures have mitigated the effects of criminal activities, particularly in Potiskum, Nguru, and Gashua Local Government Areas.

The command has apprehended 108 suspects for various crimes, including those who defied the imposed curfew in the affected areas. Efforts are ongoing to recover stolen properties, with discreet investigations underway.

CP Ahmed appealed to the public to report miscreants with stolen properties and warned criminal elements that they will be held accountable under the law.
