The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has instructed its members to adhere to the indefinite nationwide strike initiated by Organised Labour, set to commence on Monday.
NUPENG's General Secretary, Mr. Afolabi Olawale, emphasized the union's dedication to ensuring complete compliance with the directive.
This move comes after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) declared an indefinite nationwide strike in protest against the Federal Government's reluctance to implement the proposed new minimum wage.
Expressing dismay at the government's insensitivity towards negotiating a new minimum wage, Afolabi highlighted the adverse socio-economic policies that have exacerbated the plight of Nigerian workers under the current administration.
He urged union leaders at all levels to expedite measures to ensure full compliance with the strike directive.
