Bandits Lure Youth into Crime for N500 or Less," - Governor Radda Urging Vigilance

In a startling revelation, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has shed light on the alarming tactics employed by bandits, who are enticing young individuals into criminal activities for as little as N500 (approximately $1.30 USD).

Addressing attendees at a security meeting convened in the state capital, Governor Radda voiced his profound concern regarding the escalating recruitment of youth by bandits. He emphasized that these recruiters specifically target vulnerable segments of society, including individuals from impoverished backgrounds and those who have discontinued their education.

According to Governor Radda, the allure for potential recruits lies in the promises of a sense of belonging and financial rewards, often as minimal as N500 or even less in certain instances. He cautioned that this disturbing trend poses not only a significant threat to public safety but also undermines the overall security and stability of the state.

Governor Radda urged parents, community leaders, and religious figures to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. Additionally, he called upon the government to prioritize investments in education and job creation initiatives aimed at curbing the proliferation of out-of-school youth and offering viable alternatives to criminal engagement.

The Governor's revelation comes amid mounting apprehension over the escalating insecurity plaguing the North-West region, characterized by rampant incidents of banditry and kidnapping. In response, the state government has reiterated its commitment to collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge and safeguard the welfare of citizens.
