In a heartbreaking turn of events, Alhaji Muftau Mohammed from Gbeganu Area of Minna, Niger State, tragically passed away at Morris Police Division while attempting to secure the release of his two sons, Mubarak Ahmed and Yusuf Mohammed, who were reportedly arrested by the police.
The sons recounted being apprehended by the police while resting in a burglary in front of their house due to the intense heat. Despite their explanation, they were swiftly taken into custody, leaving their father deeply concerned.
Alhaji Muftau, who suffered from high blood pressure, rushed to the police station upon learning of his sons' detention. Despite his deteriorating health, he insisted on accompanying them, only to collapse at the station due to a severe headache.
Neighbors recount the frantic efforts to assist Alhaji Muftau, including attempts to procure water and transport him to the hospital. Tragically, their efforts were in vain as he succumbed to his condition before medical assistance could be rendered.
The devastating news of Alhaji Muftau's passing left his wife in a state of shock, leading to her collapse and subsequent revival.
The Niger State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Alhaji Muftau's death and ascertain if any negligence occurred.
