Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly known as Egberipapa and the Governorship Candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the 2023 elections in Rivers State, has regained his freedom after being detained. The circumstances surrounding his arrest and subsequent release remain undisclosed as of now. On Wednesday evening, Jackrich was released and has since reunited with some of his loyalists and allies in Port Harcourt.

However, the reasons behind his arrest and the specifics of his release have not been made public. There is uncertainty surrounding the situation, with conflicting reports about the involvement of the army in his detention. One of Jackrich's aides, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the army denies involvement, adding complexity to the matter.

In response to Jackrich's release, Chief Seliye Jackrich, an Elder in the Compound Council of Chiefs of Ike Group of Houses, confirmed that they have received news of Sobomabo's freedom. However, as of the latest update, they have not been able to physically verify his release or make contact with him. Despite reports of his release circulating through the media, his family has not received direct communication from Jackrich himself.
