"Inferno Ravages Lagos Market: Three Buildings Collapse in Devastating Fire Tragedy"

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has revealed the harrowing aftermath of a fire incident at Dosumu Market in Lagos State on Tuesday, disclosing that three buildings collapsed in its wake.

In a statement shared on NEMA's official Facebook page, the agency swiftly responded to the fire outbreak at Dosumu Market, situated off Idumagbo Avenue in Lagos. According to the statement, the Lagos State Fire Service and other stakeholders were mobilized to the scene, where a second building had collapsed, marking the origin of the fire.

The intensity of the blaze led to the collapse of three buildings, causing widespread devastation. Despite efforts to contain the fire, small fires persist beneath the collapsed structures, expected to burn out gradually.

Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, affirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident. Firefighting operations were promptly initiated to quell the spreading inferno, which had already impacted adjacent structures on Docemo and Nnamdi Azikwe Streets after initially erupting at three buildings along Jankara Street.

While progress has been made in partially subduing the blaze, ongoing efforts are focused on its complete extinguishment. However, the firefighting operations face additional challenges due to the necessity of ensuring the safe evacuation of traders and preserving their merchandise within a densely populated area, requiring rigorous crowd control measures.

As of present, no casualties have been reported, and investigations into the cause of the fire are actively underway.
