Police Bust Cybercrime Syndicate, Seize Fake $100,000 Bills"

Police in Abuja have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat cybercrime by apprehending a suspect, Muhammed Zenabdin, for criminal conspiracy and possession of suspected counterfeit currency. The arrest was carried out by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre during a raid on a suspected cybercrime hideout located in the Garki II area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrest was made following credible intelligence received by operatives of the NPF-NCCC. Despite the escape of other members of the criminal gang, Zenabdin was successfully apprehended during the operation.

During the raid, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant, which led to the discovery of compelling evidence implicating Zenabdin. Among the items seized were suspected counterfeit currency amounting to $100,000, along with sophisticated counterfeit detection equipment, international passports, mobile phones, and a luxury vehicle.

Zenabdin, upon interrogation, provided confessional statements to the police and offered valuable information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal gang involved in cybercrime activities. As the investigation continues, Zenabdin will face arraignment in court to answer for the charges leveled against him.

This arrest is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to clamp down on cybercrime and other illicit activities in the country. It underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to combatting cyber-related crimes and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
