Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured their spot in the football event of the 2024 Olympic Games following a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the second leg of qualifiers against South Africa in Pretoria.

By virtue of their 1-0 first leg victory in Abuja last Friday, Randy Waldrum’s ladies advanced with the same aggregate scoreline.

In contrast to the first leg, the Falcons found themselves under pressure from their hosts, who were determined to find a breakthrough.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made a series of crucial saves in the second half to keep Nigeria's hopes of a first Olympics appearance since 2008 alive.

They now face a tough challenge in Group C against powerhouses Spain, Japan, and Brazil when the Olympics kick off in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

This qualification marks a significant achievement for Nigerian women's football, showcasing their resilience and determination on the international stage.
