Team Nigeria showcased exceptional talent at the 2023 African Games in Ghana, securing a remarkable medal haul on the final day of the athletics event. Nigerian athletes clinched two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, underscoring their dominance on the track and field.

Chinecherem Nnamdi set a new national record in the men’s javelin event, claiming gold with a standout performance. The quartet of Esther Joseph, Patience Okon-George, Brittany Ogunmokun, and Omolara Ogunmakinju secured gold in the women’s 4x400m relay final.

Olayinka Olajide and Consider Ekanem contributed to Nigeria's success, winning silver in the women’s 200m and bronze in the men’s 200m, respectively.

These achievements bolstered Nigeria's overall medal count in athletics to 11 gold, six silver, and four bronze, totaling 21 medals.
