Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group launched a coordinated attack on Alela village in Sokoto State on Saturday evening, setting houses ablaze and rustling an undisclosed number of livestock.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed the incident in a post on his X account, stating that the attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. and involved over 100 armed assailants riding on approximately 50 motorcycles.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers stormed the community, firing sporadically to disperse residents before torching several homes and fleeing with stolen animals.
Makama confirmed that security forces have since been deployed to the area, and operations are underway to track and apprehend the perpetrators.
