LOS ANGELES WILDFIRES RAGE ON: Death Toll Climbs to 24

A devastating wildfire sweeping through Los Angeles has claimed 24 lives, with 16 people still missing, officials confirmed to JM.

The bodies of 16 victims were recovered in the Eaton fire zone, while eight more were found in the Palisades area. Firefighters are battling to contain three wildfires raging across the city.

Weather forecasters have warned of a resurgence in powerful Santa Ana winds, which could fuel the fires further. The winds are expected to pick up from Sunday night until Wednesday, reaching speeds of up to 60mph (96km/h).

Despite the challenges, officials report making progress in controlling the spread of the deadly Palisades and Eaton fires, which are burning on opposite ends of the city.

Firefighters are working tirelessly to tackle the blazes, including the Palisades Fire, which is threatening homes in the Mandeville Canyon area.
