"China's Educational Gift to Nigeria: Free Online Chinese Classroom Launches, Promising New Opportunities"


The People’s Republic of China has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria's education system with the launch of a pioneering initiative – the free Chinese Online Classroom Project. In a ceremony held in Igbesa, Ogun State, Ms. Yan Yuqing, the Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate in Nigeria, assured unwavering support for the endeavor.


Joined by distinguished guests including Madame Wang Jinhong and Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the event marked a significant milestone in Sino-Nigerian relations. The initiative, a collaboration between the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) and the Chinese Ministry of Education, aims to promote Mandarin Chinese proficiency among tertiary students and interested individuals.

Madame Jinhong emphasized the global significance of the initiative, highlighting its potential to foster cultural exchange and economic cooperation. The partnership with Yunnan Agricultural University underscores the program's commitment to skill development and empowerment.

Kevin Liu, Deputy General Manager of China-Africa Investment FZC, emphasized the program's focus on equipping university undergraduates and local communities with essential skills. Prof. Arigbabu expressed the Ogun State government's readiness to integrate Chinese language instruction into the educational curriculum, affirming the government's commitment to enhancing knowledge and economic opportunities.

David, a participant in the program, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, highlighting the potential benefits including improved language proficiency and technical skills.
