Nigerian Retirees Receive as Little as N500 Monthly Pension – NUP

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has raised alarm over the dire situation of retirees, with some receiving a mere N500 monthly pension. Alhassan Musa, the secretary of the union in Kaduna State, described the retirees' condition as "pathetic" during a Sunday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The worst affected include pensioners from Southern and oil-producing states, despite these regions receiving substantial allocations from the federation account.
