The former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Sarah Sosah, has encouraged teachers to prioritize academic excellence in their service delivery to students.
Speaking at a seminar organized by U-Ideals, a media firm, Princess Sarah Sosah emphasized the importance of diligence in teaching. She urged teachers to recognize that their rewards begin in the present, not just in the afterlife. Drawing from her own experience as a teacher, she stressed that dedicated efforts would yield excellent results in students and garner recognition for educators.
Echoing Sosah's sentiments, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi attributed students' lack of enthusiasm for academics to various modern distractions, particularly
those associated with digital technology such as social media. Rotimi urged both teachers and parents to take responsibility for guiding children in using these tools effectively to enhance learning outcomes.
Additionally, the program's chairman, Prof. Obi Iwuagwu, criticized the practice of bribery for academic success, noting that it contributes to producing inadequately prepared graduates. He called on all stakeholders to refrain from engaging in such unethical behavior, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of integrity and excellence in education.
