"Cubana Chief Priest Faces EFCC Charges: Alleged Lavish Naira Spraying Sparks High-Stakes Legal Battle!"

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced its intention to arraign Pascal Okechukwu, widely recognized as Cubana Chief Priest, before the Federal High Court in Lagos. The socialite and businessman is facing serious allegations related to the abuse of the Nigerian currency.

According to the charges filed by the EFCC's prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, along with seven other lawyers representing the anti-graft commission, Cubana Chief Priest is accused of contravening the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007. The charges specifically highlight instances where he allegedly engaged in the spraying and tampering of Naira notes during social events.

The scheduled arraignment before Justice Kehinde Ogundare pertains to three counts leveled against Cubana Chief Priest. The first count alleges that on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, he tampered with funds amounting to N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for an extended duration during a social gathering. This act, as per the EFCC, violates Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.

Additionally, the second count references a similar incident purportedly occurring sometime in 2020 in Lagos during another social event, where Cubana Chief Priest is accused of engaging in the unauthorized spraying of Naira notes. Similarly, the third count alleges a similar offense in January 2024 at a social gathering in Lagos.

The EFCC's decision to pursue legal action against Cubana Chief Priest follows the recent conviction of Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, on comparable charges. Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for his involvement in activities that contravened the provisions of the Central Bank Act.

Cubana Chief Priest's impending court appearance has drawn significant attention, given his prominence as a socialite and entrepreneur. His legal proceedings are expected to shed light on the regulatory framework surrounding the use and handling of the Nigerian currency, particularly in social settings.

As the case unfolds, observers anticipate further developments and insights into the enforcement of financial regulations in Nigeria's social and entertainment spheres. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving legal matter.
