Act Swiftly to Ease Soaring Cooking Gas Prices": "Osun APC Leader Urges President Tinubu

President Tinubu

Amidst mounting concerns over the escalating cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly referred to as cooking gas, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has issued a fervent plea to President Bola Tinubu for urgent intervention. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, Oyintiloye highlighted the unbearable financial strain imposed on the masses by the exorbitant prices of cooking gas, stressing the urgent need for decisive action to alleviate the burden.

Expressing profound dismay at the soaring prices of LPG, Oyintiloye underscored the detrimental impact of the escalating costs on ordinary citizens. Despite the federal government's directive to curb the exportation of cooking gas, he lamented the lack of tangible reductions in local prices, suggesting potential clandestine export activities by LPG producers as a contributing factor to the price hike.

Oyintiloye cautioned against the adverse consequences of the skyrocketing costs, noting a concerning trend of consumers resorting to alternative, less environmentally friendly fuel sources such as charcoal and firewood due to financial constraints. He warned of the potential exacerbation of climate change challenges, including deforestation, desertification, and air pollution, which pose significant risks to both public health and ecological stability.

In light of these pressing concerns, Oyintiloye urged President Tinubu to take immediate and decisive measures to alleviate the financial strain on citizens and safeguard the country's forests and ecosystems. He emphasized the critical importance of ensuring affordable access to clean cooking fuel, particularly for vulnerable populations struggling to cope with economic hardships exacerbated by the fuel subsidy removal and unstable electricity supply.

Asserting President Tinubu's leadership and responsiveness, Oyintiloye expressed confidence in the president's commitment to addressing the plight of the Nigerian populace. He called for unified efforts among all relevant stakeholders to confront the challenges plaguing the oil and gas sector, advocating for prompt and effective solutions to mitigate the hardships faced by Nigerians.

As Nigerians grapple with the profound impacts of soaring cooking gas prices, Oyintiloye's impassioned plea serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for swift and decisive action to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and safeguard the environment. By urging President Tinubu to prioritize this critical issue, Oyintiloye advocates for a concerted response to ensure the well-being of all Nigerians and the sustainable management of the nation's natural resources.
