Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has dissolved his cabinet, relieving all commissioners and other public officers of their appointments with immediate effect.
The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the statement, the dissolution followed a private valedictory session Fubara held with members of his cabinet at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The meeting coincided with events marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their contributions to the growth and development of Rivers State over the past two years. He assured citizens of his administration’s continued dedication to serving the state with “renewed vigour.”
He also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the collective effort to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.
The dissolution comes in the wake of a recent Supreme Court judgment that reshaped the political landscape in Rivers, though details of the ruling were not disclosed in the governor’s statement.
