The Federal Government has granted approval for night construction on the ongoing 43.65-kilometre Mararaba-Keffi Road reconstruction and expansion project, aimed at easing traffic congestion and accelerating delivery.
The approval was announced on Thursday by the Minister of State for Works, Hon. Muhammad Bello Goronyo, during an inspection of the project being handled by China Harbour Engineering Company Nigeria Limited.
In a statement signed by Mohammed Abdullahi Ahmed, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Works, Goronyo expressed concern over the slow pace of construction and the persistent gridlock along the busy corridor, which connects the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Nasarawa State.
Responding, Mr. Dong Hong, Project Manager of China Harbour Engineering Company, assured that the contractor is fully mobilised and committed to meeting deadlines.
The Mararaba-Keffi project falls under the Federal Government’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme, an initiative that enables private sector partners to finance road projects in exchange for tax relief.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring timely completion of all ongoing projects in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure expansion as a driver of economic growth.
