Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, Zamfara State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation during the 2023 presidential election, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of betrayal and neglect.
Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2019, said he was quitting the ruling party with his entire political structure across the 147 wards in Zamfara State. The decision was reached during a two-day meeting of the Senator Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum held in Kaduna.
In a communiqué signed by forum leaders, including Comrade Bashir Muhammad Mafara (Chairman) and Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe (Secretary), the group declared.
The forum accused the federal government under President Tinubu of failing to tackle insecurity in Zamfara, despite campaign promises made in 2023. It expressed concern over worsening banditry, kidnappings, and killings, noting that communities devastated by recent attacks had been left without federal support.
The communiqué also alleged that insecurity in the state had been politicised, citing the Kaura Namoda bye-election where villages that suffered brutal attacks, resulting in over 40 deaths, were ignored by the federal authorities.
Marafa, who had assured Tinubu during the campaign that Zamfara would be delivered to him without the president needing to visit, described Tinubu as a “use-and-dump” leader. He vowed that his group would soon announce its next political direction, guided by the interests of Zamfara people.
The communiqué reveal that the state has been side-lined in all facets of human development, including protection of lives and properties, infrastructural development, and fair representation in political appointments
