One Dead, Nine Rescued As Another Boat Capsizes In Sokoto

At least one person has died and nine others have been rescued after a boat mishap in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The corpse of a 29-year-old victim was recovered on Friday, while search efforts led by NEMA, NIWA, SEMA, and local divers are still ongoing. An 80-year-old woman remains missing.

Officials confirmed the accident occurred on Thursday, making it the third boat mishap in the state in just two weeks, following similar incidents in Goronyo and Sabon Birni.

Rescue teams say operations will continue until all missing passengers are accounted for.
