A recent court order issued by Justice Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the authenticity of the judge's signature. The order, which restrained the Kano State Government from implementing a law and halted the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been marred by allegations of forgery.¹
According to reports, the signature appended to the certified true copy of the judgment is different from previous signatures of Justice Liman. Furthermore, unlike in similar orders or judgments, the signature was appended only on the cover page, fueling suspicions of foul play.
The controversy has sparked heated debates, with some calling for an investigation into the matter. The Kano State Government has also weighed in, stating that Justice Liman was in the United States at the time the order was issued, raising questions about the legitimacy of the document.
This is not the first time Justice Liman has been embroiled in controversy. He has been criticized for several of his judicial decisions, including an order that halted the suspension of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).²
The incident has once again brought to the fore concerns about the integrity of the judiciary and the need for transparency and accountability in the administration of justice.
