Nigerian Army arrested Boko Haram commander



In a significant boost to the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts, the Nigerian Army has announced the capture of high-profile Boko Haram commanders, logistic suppliers, and collaborators, as well as the rescue of kidnapped victims and recovery of looted items.

On August 4, 2024, troops apprehended two Boko Haram commanders, Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman, who had infiltrated the Damasak Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Mobbar Local Government Area. The suspects, who claimed to be visiting their families, had previously led attacks on troops in the area.

In a separate operation, troops arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistic suppliers, Mallam Mustapha Ismaila (49) and Abdulmudalabi Haruna (30), and rescued two minors.

In a significant development, 50 Boko Haram suspects and their families surrendered to troops stationed in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa local government areas.

On August 4, 2024, troops arrested three Boko Haram collaborators at Gubio Market in Gubio Local Government Area. The suspects, who admitted to involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery activities, were found with two motorcycles and several mobile phones.

Troops arrested a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Mohammed Bello, in Egbe community of Yagba Local Government Area. Bello, who belonged to a seven-man syndicate specializing in kidnapping unsuspecting citizens, had been on the security agencies' wanted list.

Troops responded to a distress call regarding a kidnapping incident involving the former Chairman of Kabba Local Government Area. They engaged the terrorists in Egbe Forest, capturing one suspect and rescuing the victim, who has since been reunited with their family.

These successful operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army's commitment to defeating Boko Haram and restoring peace and security to the region.
