Sophia Momodu, ex-girlfriend of renowned musician David Adeleke (popularly known as Davido), has made a plea to a Lagos State High Court not to grant custody of their daughter to Davido. She alleged that the singer ceased his financial responsibilities towards their daughter because she refused his sexual advances.
In a counter-affidavit filed against Davido's suit seeking custody, Sophia claimed that Davido is unfit to be granted custody due to his unavailability and inability to dutifully care for their daughter. She debunked Davido's claim of consistently fulfilling his financial obligations, stating that their child was almost expelled from school due to unpaid tuition fees.
Sophia alleged that Davido's involvement with their daughter was often contingent on her consent to his sexual desires, and that he only spent time with their daughter for media stunts or promotions. She claimed that Davido frequently ceased communication and financial support if she rejected his advances.
Sophia also accused Davido of expelling her and their daughter from his Atlanta home during a 2017 summer holiday. She clarified that she never denied Davido access to his daughter, but limited his late-night visits due to their disruptive nature and his intention to solicit sex.
The court case continues as Sophia countered Davido's claims, stating that he defaulted on their daughter's school fees in 2021 and 2022, with the school threatening expulsion in 2023 due to the unpaid fees. It was Davido's father who eventually paid the outstanding fees.
