Child Abuse: Police Rescue Five-Year-Old Boy Chained and Starved by Father

In a shocking incident, police authorities in Bauchi have rescued a five-year-old boy who was allegedly chained by his own father. The incident came to light on July 3, 2024, after a concerned citizen reported the matter to the ward head.According to the report received, a resident of the same area had spotted young Hussaini tied with a chain inside a room. Baba swiftly arrived at the scene and rescued the child.During subsequent interviews, the child disclosed that his father, Abubakar Nuhu, known as Wanzam, had subjected him to severe mistreatment. The suspect was subsequently arrested for child abuse.In his defense, the accused claimed that he had confined his son to prevent him from stealing from neighbors, purportedly advised by an acquaintance. However, such mistreatment and abuse are unacceptable and go against the well-being and rights of a child.The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
