Gombe High Court Delivers Verdicts in Land Fraud Cases



In a recent judicial proceeding at the Gombe State High Court, Justice Abdulhamid Yakubu convicted Aliyu Mohammed, a former NITEL/MTEL staff, for defrauding Lacachika Nigeria Limited and Captain Lamolohguhe of N4,800,000 in a land scam. Mohammed received a twelve-month imprisonment sentence for his offense, with an option of a N20,000 fine.

Similarly, Justice J.A. Kereng convicted and sentenced Umar Bakari and Musa Aliyu Hinna for separate land fraud incidents. Bakari obtained N525,000 under false pretenses, while Hinna received N3,000,000 deceitfully. Bakari was sentenced to six months in prison, and Hinna received a seven-month and two-week prison term.

The convictions, stemming from petitions and investigations by the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), highlight the judiciary's commitment to combating fraud and upholding the rule of law in land transactions.
