Federal Government Declares Monday and Tuesday as Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, June 17th, and Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate this year's Eid-ul-Adha celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. The declaration comes in line with the tradition of granting public holidays for religious festivities in Nigeria.

The Minister congratulated the Muslim Ummah, both at home and in the Diaspora, on this occasion and urged them to continue to embody the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. He also encouraged everyone to use this period to pray for unity, prosperity, and the stability of the country. The Minister emphasized the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.

The decision to declare these public holidays allows Muslims in Nigeria to observe and celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, in accordance with their religious traditions. It is a time of prayer, reflection, and acts of charity for the Muslim community.

The announcement of these public holidays provides an opportunity for Nigerians to come together, celebrate, and strengthen the bonds of unity and harmony in the country.
