CHILD TRADING: Rev Sister Arrested As Police Rescue Two Children In Anambra

In a breakthrough in the case of three children abducted by a motorcyclist in Amaba Ime, Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, two of the children have been rescued and reunited with their parents. The rescue operation was carried out by security operatives in Ekwulobia and Nkpor, two different towns in Anambra State.

According to the Chairman of
Ikwuano LGA, Mr Osinachi Nwaka, a Reverend Sister who is a member of a child trafficking syndicate has been arrested in connection with the case. The Reverend Sister is currently being detained by the police.

The rescue of the two children was confirmed by the Ikwuano LGA Chairman when he received members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, led by Promise Uzoma Okoro. The Chairman praised the efforts of Governor Alex Otti, Abia State Commissioner of Police, and heads of other security agencies in the state in the rescue of the children. He assured that the remaining one will soon be found.

The Ikwuano LGA Chairman solicited the cooperation of the public to unravel the masterminds of the illicit trade in order to bring them to book for a safer Abia. He advised parents to be more careful about the whereabouts of their children and cautioned schools against sending pupils away from school because of non-payment of school fees.

In a shocking revelation, the Chairman disclosed that a man who bought one of the first boys paid N1.8m to purchase the child. He expressed amazement at the fact that a Reverend Sister is involved in the illegal trade, saying "A Reverend Sister is the middle person that distributes the children and collects her cut, she's wearing white and still in state CID till today."

The rescue of the two children is a welcome development in the fight against child trafficking in the state. The police and other security agencies have been working tirelessly to combat the menace, and this breakthrough is a testament to their efforts.

The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The fight against child trafficking requires the collective effort of all, and with continued cooperation, the menace can be eradicated.
