In response to mounting speculation fuelled by President Joe Biden's bill threatening a ban unless ownership is divested, ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, issued a resolute statement on Thursday, refuting any considerations of selling the popular social media platform.

ByteDance's assertion, posted on its news platform Toutiao, labeled the reports as 'false rumors,' categorically stating, "Foreign media reports that ByteDance is exploring the sale of TikTok are untrue. ByteDance has no plans to sell TikTok."

This declaration marks the first official response from TikTok since Biden signed the bill, which mandates the company to divest TikTok, imposing a stringent nine-month deadline for the sale, extendable by three months if negotiations persist.

Despite the mounting pressure and regulatory scrutiny, TikTok has vehemently denied allegations of posing a security threat and has consistently emphasized its autonomy from the influence of the Chinese government.

Addressing the looming specter of a potential ban in the US, TikTok's Chief Executive, Shou Zi Chew, remained steadfast, affirming the company's resolve, "We are not going anywhere."
