Nigerian Navy Vows to Safeguard Economic Stability, Takes a Stand Against Illegal Oil Operations.

The Nigerian Navy has expressed concern over the significant economic losses resulting from illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism in riverine communities across Nigeria.

Commodore Nanmar Lakan, the Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH, voiced his apprehension during a visit to Okolomade Community in Abua Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, accompanied by journalists.

Lamenting the adverse effects of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism on the national economy, Commodore Lakan emphasized the need to put an end to these illicit activities.

"These illegal actions have detrimental consequences for our economy and the citizens. I urge those involved in such activities to seek alternative means of livelihood," he urged.

Highlighting the scale of the problem, Commodore Lakan revealed that his team had uncovered a large illegal site in Okolomade Community, equipped with three tanks utilized for storing illegally refined diesel (AGO).

He pledged to hand over the seized products to the appropriate authorities for further investigation, emphasizing the commitment of the Nigerian Navy to combatting such illegal practices.

Operating under the directives of both the Chief of Naval Staff and Operation Delta Safe, NNS SOROH continues to conduct patrols within its operational jurisdiction to tackle illegal oil activities.

"I want to assure Nigerians of our dedication and determination to halt these illegal activities," Commodore Lakan affirmed, seeking public trust and cooperation in the Navy's efforts.
