**Deputy Commissioner of Police Allegedly Commits Suicide in Ogbomoso**

A tragic incident unfolded in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gbolahan Olugbemi reportedly took his own life. The 50-plus-year-old officer, attached to the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (FCIID), was found lifeless in his apartment with a noose around his neck, suggesting suicide as the cause of death.

Olugbemi, who had previously served as an aide to former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, had returned to Ogbomoso for the Easter celebration. However, he arrived alone, without any companions accompanying him. His body was discovered by individuals who were shocked by the grim sight.

Having served as the Aide De Camp to the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala during his tenure from 2006 to 2007, Olugbemi had an illustrious career in law enforcement. Despite his notable achievements, including commendation for his handling of the ENDSARS protests in 2020, he had been grappling with depression for an extended period.

Neighbors and acquaintances described Olugbemi as a dedicated and effective officer, often seen personally driving into his beautiful mansion. However, they noted that his family was rarely spotted with him, indicating a potential strain in his personal life.

Throughout his career, Olugbemi held various significant positions, including serving as Divisional Police Officer in Ilupeju Area Commander in Ajah. He also served as the Personal Assistant to two former Commissioners of Police in Lagos State, demonstrating his commitment and capability within the law enforcement community.

The news of Olugbemi's tragic demise has left the community reeling in shock and disbelief. While investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, declined to comment, citing his busy schedule.

As friends, colleagues, and well-wishers mourn the loss of Deputy Commissioner Gbolahan Olugbemi, his passing serves as a stark reminder of the challenges individuals may face silently, underscoring the importance of mental health awareness and support within society.
