"NDLEA Thwarts Drug Trafficking Attempt to Qatar, Reject N5m Bribe: Heroes in the War Against Narcotics"

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant strides in combating drug trafficking, intercepting a 35-year-old woman, Chidinma Chinenye-Agbazue, as she attempted to export 20 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 10.70kg to Doha, Qatar. The apprehension took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The illicit drugs were cleverly concealed in African salad, popularly known as Abacha, along with dried vegetables. This operation was conducted in collaboration with operatives from the Department of State Services.

In another remarkable feat, NDLEA officers thwarted a bribery attempt when they apprehended a suspect in Lagos State who tried to bribe them with a staggering N5 million. Despite the tempting offer, the anti-narcotics operatives remained resolute in their commitment to upholding the law.

According to Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, the agency has been actively engaged in combating drug trafficking over the past week, resulting in several arrests and significant recoveries.

Chidinma Chinenye-Agbazue, the detained suspect, confessed during preliminary investigations that she was based in Qatar but had returned to Nigeria for Christmas last December. She claimed that she was given the contraband at Club Dice Hotel in Ikotun, Lagos, before her departure to Doha.

Furthermore, NDLEA operatives arrested two suspects, Monday Okeke and Chigozie Emeka, in Yaba and Agege areas of Lagos, where they seized 842,560 pills of opioids, particularly tramadol, along with 15 liters of codeine syrup and 596 grams of Molly.

In Bayelsa State, NDLEA operatives foiled an attempt by three suspects to smuggle opioids, including codeine, molly, tramadol, and diazepam, weighing a total of 73.425kg, to the creeks in Southern Ijaw area.

Moreover, the agency arrested two suspects, Eniola Muyideen and Bankole Shuaib, with 137 blocks of cannabis weighing 71kg during a raid in Orile Imo, Ogun State.

NDLEA operatives also recovered 39,980 pills of tramadol from a suspect, Abubakar Mohammed, in Taraba State, and seized 131kg of cannabis sativa from another suspect, Apaji Vincent, in Wukari.

In Abia State, Nwachukwuu Chinedu was arrested with 46.65kg of cannabis, along with quantities of tramadol, methamphetamine, and rohypnol, as well as N71,500 in cash.

Additionally, NDLEA intercepted 127.5kg of cannabis along Isua/Kabba Road in Ondo State and apprehended a female suspect, Chinasa Christopher, with 400 bottles of codeine syrup in Kano.

The agency also apprehended the owner of a consignment of illicit drugs intercepted along Zaria-Kano Road, Bakura Goni, in Lagos. The consignment, consisting of cannabis and tramadol weighing 73.8kg, was seized from a truck destined for Kano.

Furthermore, NDLEA operatives recovered 278kg of cannabis during a raid in Edo State and destroyed 3,065.255kg of cannabis on two farms in Igueben. Three suspects, James Thankgod, Wisdom James, and Akpa Festus, were arrested in connection with the operation.

The NDLEA's relentless efforts in intercepting drug trafficking attempts and rejecting bribes underscore its commitment to combating the narcotics menace and safeguarding communities from the harmful effects of illicit drugs.
