 Troops from the Defence Headquarters have achieved a significant breakthrough by successfully rescuing 137 abducted pupils and teachers from the LEA School Kuriga, located in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The abduction occurred on March 7, 2024, when suspected terrorists forcibly took the victims into a forested area, sparking widespread concern and prompting immediate response efforts.

The abducted individuals, comprising 76 females and 61 males, endured an ordeal marked by uncertainty and fear as their captors demanded a ransom of N1 billion for their release. With the deadline for payment looming on March 27, 2024, the situation grew increasingly dire, heightening the urgency of rescue operations.
