"Gani Adams Strikes Back: Denies Assassination Allegations Amidst Voice Note Controversy"

Gani Adams

Gani Adams, the prominent Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, has vehemently denied allegations of defamation leveled against him, asserting that a widely circulated audio clip was distorted and misconstrued. In a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adams warned against what he termed as a deliberate campaign to besmirch his character, emphasizing that his silence should not be misconstrued as acquiescence.

The controversy stems from a pre-action letter sent by the legal representatives of Sunday Igboho and Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, threatening legal action against Adams for allegedly accusing them of plotting an assassination. In the letter, Ayinde's lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), referenced a viral voice note purportedly featuring Adams making damning statements implicating Igboho and Ayinde.

The voice note allegedly contains Adams cautioning against associating with Igboho and implicating Ayinde in a conspiracy involving political figures in Lagos. According to the transcript provided in the letter, Adams purportedly accuses Ayinde of coordinating nefarious activities on behalf of a political leader and providing funds to Igboho for undisclosed purposes.

However, Adams has vehemently refuted the authenticity and context of the audio clip, describing it as a distortion of a private conversation that took place in 2021. In his rejoinder to Olumide-Fusika's letter, drafted by his legal representatives, Oluwole Kehinde and Rosemary Thompson, Adams denies the content and implications attributed to him in the circulated voice note.

Adams asserts that the conversation in question was initiated by an individual seeking reconciliation between himself, Igboho, and others. He maintains that the remarks made were speculative and not intended for public dissemination. Furthermore, Adams stresses that his statements regarding Ayinde were based on unconfirmed rumors and lacked malicious intent.

The Aare Onakakanfo emphasizes his commitment to defending his hard-earned reputation and the integrity of the office he represents. Despite initial efforts to resolve the matter privately, Adams acknowledges the need to address the issue publicly in light of ongoing disputes and attempts to discredit him.

Gani Adams hereby refutes the allegations of defamation and asserts his readiness to set the record straight, underscoring the importance of distinguishing fact from fiction amidst the swirling controversy.
