Federal Government has declares Good Friday and Easter Monday as Public Holidays

In a move to observe the solemnity and significance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, the Federal Government has officially declared both days, March 29th and April 1st, 2024, as public holidays.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to reflect on the sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ during this period.

Quoted in a statement by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of Easter in promoting values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are crucial for fostering social cohesion and harmony.

Encouraging acts of charity and generosity towards the less privileged, the Minister underscored the significance of these virtues in contributing to Nigeria's socio-economic development and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
