NSA Confirms Escape of Binance Regional Manager from Nigeria Amid Tax Evasion Allegations

The Office of the National Security Advisers (ONSA) has officially confirmed the escape of Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance's regional manager for Africa, from custody in Nigeria. Anjarwalla, along with his colleague Tigran Gambaryan, was detained on March 22, 2024, at an Abuja guest house over allegations of tax evasion.

According to Zakari Mijinyawa, head of strategic communication at ONSA, Anjarwalla utilized a smuggled passport to flee the country. Mijinyawa disclosed that the personnel responsible for the custody of the suspect have been apprehended, and investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his escape.

Binance responded to the incident by emphasizing the safety and well-being of its manager as a top priority. The firm pledged cooperation with Nigerian authorities to address the matter swiftly and effectively.
