Multiple sources familiar with the operation told SaharaReporters that Adenuga informed customs brokers and stakeholders at the border that he had secured approval from the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, authorising the Seme Border Command to independently generate operational funds for anti-smuggling activities, customs intelligence gathering, trans-border crime enforcement and infrastructural upgrades.
