Tinubu Warns Nigerian Pilgrims to Israel, Jordan Against Abscondment


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cautioned Nigerian pilgrims embarking on the Easter pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan against absconding, stressing that “there is no country like Nigeria.

The President gave the warning during the official flag-off of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission’s (NCPC) delayed 2025 Easter Pilgrimage at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu underscored the importance of pilgrimage as a spiritual journey of faith and devotion. He commended the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, for his “innovative leadership” and for successfully conducting four pilgrimages to the Holy Land since assuming office.

Tinubu also hailed Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his consistent support of the NCPC, noting that the governor had sponsored 1,000 pilgrims in 2023 and another 1,000 this year.

A statement issued by Celestine Toruka, Head of Media and Public Relations at the NCPC, quoted President Tinubu as saying:

In his remarks, Governor Uzodimma expressed delight at hosting the flag-off event, describing it as an opportunity to deepen the state’s partnership with the NCPC and reaffirm his administration’s commitment to supporting the spiritual development of the people.
