EXCLUSIVE: Kwara Governor AbdulRazaq Buys N400Million Property, Demolishes It To Build Retirement Home Amid Rising Insecurity –Govt Sources

Amid escalating insecurity across Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has come under scrutiny following reports that he purchased a property valued at ₦400 million in Ilorin, demolished it, and began construction of what sources described as his retirement home.

Multiple government insiders told SaharaReporters that the property, located on AbdulRazaq Road, was acquired from Chief Olusola Adekanola, a prominent chartered accountant.

The report reveals that the residence sits in one of Ilorin’s most exclusive political hubs, which already hosts figures such as former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senator Saliu Mustapha, Senator Smart Adeyemi, and businessman Moshood Mustapha. The property also directly faces the home of the governor’s brother, AbdulRazaq Alimi.

According to sources, AbdulRazaq has overseen major road reconstructions around AbdulRazaq Road, sparking concerns that state resources are being diverted to benefit his personal interests.

We gathered that Another insider named Araba Oluwafemi Sanni, a civil engineer and close associate of the governor, as the man supervising many of the governor’s private projects. Sanni, who reportedly handles major state contracts including the new Kwara State Secretariat, is alleged to serve as AbdulRazaq’s “front” in shielding his investments from public scrutiny.

Meanwhile, communities in Kwara North and South continue to face relentless banditry, forcing thousands to abandon their homes. Recent reports from Ifelodun Local Government Area showed families fleeing villages such as Sagbe, Ologomo, Alabe, and Babanla following a surge in kidnappings.

A resident, Ganiyu Babatunde, appeared in a video pleading with the state government to urgently protect the people.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Kwara State government on the allegations were unsuccessful as of press time.
