VeryDarkMan Speaks After Release from EFCC Custody

Nigerian social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has spoken publicly following his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VDM was arrested by the EFCC in Abuja on Friday, May 2, 2025, after reportedly failing to respond to multiple invitations from the Commission. His detention prompted public reactions and calls for his release from several notable individuals.

In a video posted on social media after his release on Wednesday, VDM denied allegations of money laundering, expressing disbelief over the accusations. He stated that his charitable activities have often been funded through personal debt and not illicit means.

The EFCC confirmed on Tuesday that his arrest was based on multiple petitions filed against him. His release has continued to stir debate across social media, with some questioning the legitimacy of the EFCC’s actions.
