DSS Recovers 2,000 Bags Of FG Rice Palliative Diverted In Katsina

The Katsina State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) has uncovered a significant case of rice diversion involving state government officials. The DSS operatives found that 2,000 bags of rice, part of the 20 trucks donated by the Federal Government to alleviate economic hardship, were stored in a warehouse at the Central Market in Katsina instead of being distributed to those in need.

This development has left many residents shocked and disappointed. Abdulrahman Abdullahi, Chairman of the Civil Society Organisations in the state, condemned the act as “unpatriotic” and vowed that his organisation would follow up on the case until those responsible are brought to justice.

This discovery has left many residents shocked and disappointed. Abdulrahman Abdullahi, Chairman of the Civil Society Organisations in the state, condemned the act as “unpatriotic” and vowed to pursue justice for those responsible.

Suleiman Kofar-Durbi, a resident of Katsina, described the incident as "unfortunate" and called for a thorough government investigation and punishment for those involved. Alhaji Shehu Usman, Chairman of the Market Traders Association, revealed that the rice was stored in a warehouse by someone who was not a trader.

Aliyu Abdullahi, the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Dikko Radda, provided some clarification on the matter. He stated that the rice was allocated to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, by the Federal Government. The minister had directed his Special Adviser on Infrastructure Development, Alhaji Nasiru Lawal, to keep the rice in a safe location, which led to its storage at the market warehouse.

The recovered 2,000 bags of rice have been taken back from the warehouse and returned to their original destination. This incident has raised concerns about accountability and transparency in government transactions.
