The South West chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued a stern call to action directed at the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging immediate intervention to rescue Nigerians from the prevailing fuel scarcity crisis gripping the nation.
In a statement released by Mr. Kilamuwaye Badmus, the Public Relations Officer of NNPP, the party underscored the urgent need for swift and decisive measures to mitigate the untold hardship being experienced by citizens due to the scarcity of petroleum, commonly referred to as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The statement, disseminated in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, conveyed the dire situation unfolding across cities and towns nationwide, characterized by a pervasive shortage of petroleum products.
NNPP lamented that countless Nigerians are enduring severe challenges as a consequence of the fuel scarcity, emphasizing the pressing necessity for President Tinubu's administration to promptly address the crisis.
Drawing attention to the failure of the planned removal of fuel subsidy, NNPP advocated for a comprehensive reassessment of the policy framework. The party condemned the exorbitant prices charged by select filling stations, which have exacerbated the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
Against the backdrop of skyrocketing transportation costs and escalating food prices, NNPP emphasized the urgent need for the federal government to devise effective solutions to alleviate the plight of the masses.
The party called upon the APC-led administration to recalibrate its approach and take decisive action to ameliorate the prevailing hardship, signaling a resolute stance in defense of the welfare and interests of the Nigerian populace.
