Detained Binance Chief's Wife Testifies Before US Parliament

Yuki, the wife of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained executive of Binance Holdings Limited, expressed her distress over her husband's 65-day detention in Nigeria during her testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee roundtable on Americans detained abroad. Gambaryan and another executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, were detained on February 26 as part of an investigation into Binance's activities in Nigeria. Yuki accused the Nigerian government of luring her husband to the country and detaining him without initially charging him with any crime. She emphasized that the charges against her husband were baseless and fabricated. Yuki revealed that Gambaryan, a former special agent for the United States General Revenue Service, is being held at the Kuje correctional center, alongside terrorists. She accused the Nigerian government of using her husband as a bargaining chip and urged the United States government to take action to secure his release. Anjarwalla escaped from custody on March 23. Gambaryan and Binance were subsequently charged with tax evasion and money laundering by the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, respectively.
